CGS REGISTRATION 2023-24

The atrium is the meeting ground between the home and the church.  Catechesis of the Good Shepherd does not replace the domestic church and Sunday Mass attendance.  It offers remote preparation for Mass.

The Heart of Faith Formation

Attending liturgies, daily prayer, conversation about Jesus and reading Scripture is at the very heart of faith formation - in addition to a few hours each week in the atrium or a religious education class.

Faith Building Starts in the Home

The family is the first forum in which the mission of evangelization takes place. Hence, parents are recognized as having the primary responsibility for training their children in the practice of the faith.

Family Faith Formation Takes Place at Liturgies

The primary faith formation of the Catholic family takes place at the Sunday liturgy. Living in a world with conflicting values, we need the Eucharist to help us stand firmly with one another in our faith and become the followers of Christ that we are called to by our baptism.

Faith Formation Opportunities Are Abundant

Mary, Queen of Peace is committed to providing opportunities for parents and children to develop their prayer lives and their formal understanding of the Catholic faith.  See parish media for ways grow.

Sacramental Preparation (for First Reconciliation and First Communion)

Please select one option.

Preparation for First Communion is a 2-year process, beginning with a prerequisite year of religious education followed by a year of focusing on the sacraments. Children (especially 1st graders) should begin their prerequisite year THIS FALL.

2nd graders and older have two options.

Option One:  CGS and Sacramental Preparation - weekly (and will join Sacramental Preparation classes starting in February), $120 per child.

If you would like your child in CGS, you are welcome to have them join a Level II or Level III atrium session.

Starting in February, we ask that you join the Sacramental Preparation classes on Tuesday 6:30 - 8:00 pm or Saturday 3:15 - 4:45 pm.  During those weeks from February through May, you do not need to attend CGS atrium session since you will be attending Sacramental Preparation that week.

Option Two:  Sacramental Preparation only - twice a month, $105 per child.

MQP Sacramental Preparation is a hybrid model where parents (at least one parent) and child will gather in person for class twice a month and will continue with the formation at home for the rest of the month. No need to worry parents, you’ll be given all the training and support to continue the conversations and learning at home.

Classes will run from October to May twice a month on Saturday from 3:15 - 4:45 pm or Tuesday from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.
